Commissions & payroll

Know what each artist earned before anyone runs payroll.

Commission disputes end studio friendships. REV23 keeps the math out of the argument: earnings come from the recorded sale at the rate that was actually agreed, forfeited deposits and tips included. Use commissions on their own, or turn on Payroll and follow the money all the way to each artist's stub.

Commission starts with the sale

A tattoo rate for tattoos, a piercing rate for piercings.

A single percentage is easy until tattoo, piercing, PMU, jewelry, retail, deposits, and multiple locations all pay differently. REV23 uses the rate attached to the service or item that earned it.

Rates by service type

Tattoo, piercing, PMU, and removal can each pay differently, down to one exact service.

Jewelry is not general retail

Jewelry commission stays separate from product commission, installed at the chair or sold from the case.

Percent, flat amount, or studio cut

The agreement you already have, not a formula you have to adapt to.

Different location, different rate

The same artist can work under a different deal at each studio.

Forfeited deposit share

When a deposit is forfeited, the artist’s agreed share lands in their earnings on its own.

Tips keep their own line

Tips stay visible beside earnings instead of being blended into commission.

Sliding-scale commissions

Reward the hustle with a bigger cut.

Reward volume the way the agreement actually reads: a raise that applies to the whole period, or one that starts with the next job.

Retroactive

Milestone Reward

The new rate rewards the whole period.

When eligible earnings cross a bracket, the higher rate applies to all eligible work in that period.

Cash Payout

Pay out the cash that belongs to each artist.

REV23 works out each artist's unpaid cash share for any date range, then lets you pay one person or everyone at once.

  • Split payments and multi-artist sales divide correctly. Each artist’s share follows the money that actually came in.
  • Tips stay whole, with the artist who earned them.
  • Paid cash lowers the expected drawer at close of day. The rest waits in the artist’s balance.

Commissions without Payroll

Use commissions even if REV23 never runs payroll.

Set the rates and use the Earnings report on its own. Add pay periods later if you want REV23 to manage balances, payouts, and stubs too.

Bookkeeper-driven Payroll

Close the period when the books are ready.

REV23 keeps one pay period open until the bookkeeper closes it. They can finish missing sessions, assign unclaimed tips, and record payouts.

Close when the books are ready

No fixed weekly schedule to satisfy. The period stays open until the bookkeeper closes it.

Pay one person or everyone

Individual payouts, cash payouts, settlements, or one bulk payout in each person’s preferred method.

Deductions and adjustments

Recurring or one-time deductions, adjustments with a reason, and balances that carry forward.

Closed means closed

Closing generates the stubs and freezes the math. Corrections go into the current period, not history.

Catch what is still open

Unfinished sessions and unclaimed tips surface before the period can close without them.

A role for the bookkeeper

Everything they need to run payroll, without owner access to everyone’s compensation.

My Pay keeps the current balance and live period visible without exposing anyone else's compensation.

My Pay

Let each artist see what they are owed.

Each artist can see their current balance, recent payouts, tips, deductions, adjustments, and current or closed stubs without asking the manager to rebuild the math.

  • The live period shows as projected until the bookkeeper closes it.
  • Deposits the artist holds stay visible beside what they have earned and been paid.
  • Artists who collect their own deposits can connect a personal payment account.

Contractor pay stays clearly separated.

REV23 records contractor payment details for your books and 1099 preparation. It does not calculate withholding or file payroll taxes.
