REV23 3.0 is available now! New app, new site, new logo!
But what is REV23 exactly? And where are we headed? To answer that we must start at the beginning, and I’ll try to keep it short.
I began working on what is our popular tattoo studio management software before the iPhone even existed. REV23 Development was the company (because ‘REV23’ was my old band name and I still owned the domain name). I had released a few other little apps before this point under this name. “Tattoo Management Studio” was our Windows based software for… well… tattoo studio management, and version 1.0 was released in 2010. “REV23 Development - Tattoo Management Studio” didn’t quite roll off the tongue.
In 2017, Tattoo Management Studio, or TMS as most people called it, was renamed “REV23 Desktop”, named for the Windows environment it ran on. I would have liked to have ditched the rev name, but at this point it was too late, and REV23 was synonymous with tattoo studio software, so, we stuck with it.
In 2024, REV23 Cloud was launched. A new platform rewritten from the ground up, taking all the lessons learned, and representing the evolution in the computing (people expect cloud, mobile experiences) and the adapting to changes that have happened in the body modification industry since our early days.
Today, we announce REV23, which is the latest version of our cloud platform. We’ve dropped the ‘cloud’ name and are left with what is now the flagship REV23 experience, and what will carry us into the future. Our cloud platform is now a viable replacement for REV23 Desktop.
We’re not going to go into full details of what’s new in this blog post as our brand-new website goes into a full feature tour, showing you everything it has to offer including amazing new booking, sales and payroll features, bringing this platform closer to the Desktop experience, as well as an Android app! In most cases not only does our cloud platform now have the same features as Desktop, but they more streamlined and easier to use than Desktop ever could be.
Our recommendation is now all new users should start with REV23 instead of REV23 Desktop. If you’re new to us, our cloud platform is the place for you, and Desktop should not be considered, unless you have very specific reasons for wanting a Windows only, local access only database.
This has been an exciting year for REV23! There’s still much more to come and 2027 should be even better. Getting our new platform caught up with the full feature set from Desktop has been a multi-year journey and now that our foundation is in place, we can get back to what we love! Innovating with new features and continuing to improve the safety and professionalism of this industry!
