Configuring Service Types

What's the most important part of our business? The tattoos and piercings of course! We need to tell Tattoo Management Studio Express Edition which service types are performed inside our studio. Luckily, Tattoo Management Studio Express Edition comes with most of this information pre-defined, including the most common service types configured for the most common scenarios. However, you may need to adjust this to how your studio runs.

Default Tattoo Service Type Behavior

By default, the Tattoo Service Type is configured as a Custom Pricing Source (meaning the amount is typed in every time) and the Commission Type is set to remainder (meaning the studio will draw the remaining amount after the employee's payout. For example, if you configure an employee to perform a tattoo and receive a 60% commission, it will automatically calculate the Location Payout as 40%.) Additionally, the Aftercare Form and Consent Form are specified as the default forms provided by REV23 Development. No Guardian Consent Form (the release generated when the client is under age) is set by default for this service type. The required age is set at 18 years of age.

Default Piercing Service Type Behavior

By default, the pre-defined Piercing Service Types are configured with a Default Pricing Source of Location (meaning the amount is predefined for each piercing based on the studio's pricing). Additionally, the Aftercare Forms, Consent Form, and Guardian Consent Form are specified as the default forms provided by REV23 Development. The required age is set at 18 years of age. If this age requirement is not met, a Guardian will be required in the Service Detail View when creating a service.

If these default settings do not match your studio, you may adjust them using the instructions below. In the example, we will set the price of the Antihelix piercing and adjust its commission. Obviously, our example may not match your own case. Please change the values in these steps as necessary to fit your needs.

  1. In the Application Window, click the Configuration Navigation Group, and then click the Service Types Navigation Item. This will bring up the Service Type List View.

Services & Inventory Items appear categorized in these lookup editors. The list on the left hand side are categories (think folders containing service types), and the items on the right are the actual service type records. The arrows next to the categories indicate their are sub categories that can be expanded. For example, "Lip" is a sub category of "Piercing" and "Bites" are a sub category of "Lip."

  2. Click the "Ear" category on the left (you may need to expand the "Piercing" category by clicking the arrow next to it) and double click the "Antihelix" service type on the right hand list view. This will bring up the Service Type Detail View.
