When you first run Tattoo Management Studio Express Edition you will be shown the Setup Wizard. This wizard will guide you through setting up your studio by providing basic information and configuring a few options.
The first screen will ask what you'd like to do. For a new user, you will select "I am a new user setting up Tattoo Management Studio Express Edition for the first time" and continue using the Next button.
If you need to add this computer to an existing database, you would select "I need to connect to a Tattoo Management Studio Express Edition database that is on another computer." You can read more about this in the
Networking & Hosting Topic.
Enter your studio's basic details such as the studio name, address & phone number.
Provide your studio's hours of operation. Check each box next to the day that your studio is open, and properly fill in the Open & Close time. See the following images below.
You can also use the "Fill down hours" buttons

to save some time. For example, if you studio is open the same time Monday through Friday, fill out Mondays hours, and then click the Fill down Monday's hours button. This will complete Monday through Saturday. You can then manually change the open and closing time for Saturday as necessary.
Provide some advanced studio settings such as your tax rate, time zone and Number Generation modes.
Entity Number Generation Mode is how Tattoo Management Studio Express Edition assigns numbers to objects such as Customers, Employees, & Vendors.
None (default) will not use object numbering
Incremental will assign objects in order as they're created, for example 1, 2, 3, etc...
Custom will allow you to specify your own numbers for objects as they're created.
Similarly, Invoice Number Generation Mode is how Tattoo Management Studio Express Edition assigns numbers to Invoices.
None (default) will not use invoice numbering
Incremental will assign invoice numbers in order as they're created, for example 1, 2, 3, etc...
Date will assign invoice numbers with a Date/Time, followed by a unique incremental value.
Configure an e-mail account that Tattoo Management Studio Express Edition will use to send e-mails from. This account is used to send text message & e-mail appointment reminders to your clients with the
Notification Service.
You can enter your e-mail account's e-mail address and password, as well as your display name and Tattoo Management Studio Express Edition will attempt to detect the necessary settings. This process can take several minutes to complete.
NOTE: Some free e-mail accounts such as Hotmail do not work with this service. You man need to consult your e-mail provider to see if they support sending e-mail via SMTP.
Or you can maually configure your e-mail settings. You will need these settings from your e-mail provider.
Select an image that Tattoo Management Studio Express Edition will use for a logo on release forms, credit card receipts and invoices. This logo should not be too large, and should fit completely inside both windows.
The image below is an acceptable logo image. It fits completely inside both boxes.
Create an Administrator password that will be used to access the Administrator account. Do not share this password with your artists or staff. This account should be used only for further configuration of Tattoo Management Studio Express Edition and should not be used for day to day operations.
You're done! Click the "Finish" button to close the Setup Wizard and lauch Tattoo Management Studio Express Edition.
